Precious Death, Blessed Hope

Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones.
— Psalm 116:5

A beloved sister passed into eternity Saturday morning. Our sovereign God saw fit to welcome our friend into the fullness of His presence. We do not necessarily understand why, and it hurts to see our friend go, but we do not mourn as the world mourns; for the world mourns without hope. We have our eyes firmly fixed on the hope of heaven because God has made Himself known to us through Jesus Christ and we have surrendered our hearts and minds to Him. The sting of death has been abolished by Christ’s resurrection.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
–Titus 2:11-14

My friend knew and loved Jesus. Her life and words proclaimed to me an immense love for God and for others. There is no doubt in my mind with regard to her current residence. She is present with her savior and King.

Thank you Father for the time you did give me to get to know my friend, worshiping You with music together. God, it grieves me to lose such a dearly beloved sister, but I thank You for the hope of reunion and the assurance of heaven You offer through Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for the comfort You promise and are faithful to provide. You are exceedingly good and holy God. You are sovereign above all. Blessed is Your name.

I have no doubt about where Ann is either Bill. Although I did not know her extremely well she was such a devoted woman. I also have no doubt that her life(and death)will stand as a constant testimony for those that don’t know Him, and perhaps even bring others to trust Christ. I wonder what her job is up there. Since there is everlasting light, I bet that she is being rewarded with just sitting, and listening to that ‘Angel Band’.
